William T. Sherman was the most widely renown Union leader. He is remembered for his "march to the sea" which was a 60 path of destruction. He gave Lincoln a Christmas present of the city of Savannah. He was the Superintendent of the Louisiana Military Academy
Clara Barton
Clara Barton became a teacher at the age of 17. Founded her own school later a free school. She was the first woman allowed on a battlefield. She helped start the Red Cross in the United States.
